Over the course of his career, Sid Hymes has worked in Baghdad, Iraq on the reconstruction effort, in the UAE as a Construction Manager and Procurement Specialist, as the Director of Contracts, Procurement and Claims for the construction division of a large ESOP-owned A/E firm and as the National Claims Manager and Senior Director of Claims for a St. Louis based A/E company. He’s owned and operated businesses in California, North Carolina and Texas and, until leaving Missouri for Iraq, served as the Director of the Graduate Construction Management Program at Washington University in St. Louis. He previously taught construction and business management at Northlake College in Irving, Texas.
He has served as a member of the Board of Governors for the Construction Manager Certification Institute and on the Board of Trustees of the American Council of Construction Education. Hymes also served as the VP-Finance of the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering International, AACEI.
Sid has authored more than 30 articles and is a frequent public speaker.
Dr. Hymes earned his undergraduate degree in business at San Francisco State University, JD and MBA degrees from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, his Masters in Construction Science and Management from Clemson University and his doctorate in Civil Engineering/Construction Management from Washington University in St. Louis.
Sid's professional certifications include Certified Construction Auditor (CCA), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Certified Forensic Claims Consultant (CFCC), Certified Controls Professional (CCP), Certified Professional Constructor (CPC) and Project Management Professional (PMP).
